Dr. David Moore

Research Scientist; Epidemiology and Population Health Program

Dr. David M. Moore is a public health physician and Research Scientist at the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS, and a Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of British Columbia. He has been conducting health service and population health research related to HIV and other sexually transmitted infections since 2004.

Dr. Moore conducts research related to HIV risk behavior, substance use and mental health, and biomedical and behavioiural interventions among men who have sex with men (MSM) in BC. He is a co-PI of the Momentum Study (http://momentumstudy.ca/), a longitudinal cohort of MSM in Vancouver which uses respondent driven sampling to recruit study participant. He is also a co-PI for a study of HIV and other STIs and MSM in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver known as the Engage Study (http://www.engage-men.ca/home/).

He also conducts research in BC related to clinical outcomes for individuals accessing HIV treatment in BC. This included The STOP HIV/AIDS Program Evaluation (SHAPE) Study (http://bccfe.ca/research/SHAPE) and leads the evaluation of the RETAIN program (http://bccfe.ca/stop-hiv-aids/retain).

In addition, he has conducted health service research in Uganda along with partners at The AIDS Support Organisation, a large non-governmental HIV care and treatment organization and the Uganda Virus Research Institute/ Medical Research Council Joint Research Unit on AIDS.

Dr. Moore works part-time as a primary care physician at the John Reudy Clinic at St. Paul’s Hospital and at the Hope to Health Clinic in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.
