JOB START DATE: As soon as possible

SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Minimum: $60,427.00
Maximum: $75,533.00

LOCATION: BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS (BC-CfE), Vancouver, BC

JOB: Under the direction of the Principal Investigator and Research Scientists, the Research Coordinator assists in the project development and coordination of the STOP HIV/AIDS Program Evaluation (SHAPE) study and other projects within the Epidemiology & Population Health program.

ORGANIZATION: The BC-CfE currently employs a team of Statisticians, Programmers, Data Managers, Clinical Research Assistants, Data Analysts, and Data Entry Clerks who work collaboratively on cohortbased epidemiological and clinical studies, and a program of qualitative research. The BC-CfE is a worldrenowned HIV/AIDS Research Centre including Research Laboratory, Clinical Trials, Drug Treatment Program, Epidemiology, and Professional Education Programs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Coordinates the planning, implementation, and maintenance of a province-wide project evaluating HIV care and services.
  • Manages day-to-day project activities, including, but not limited to, study development, REB applications, liaising with community partners, writing reports, and contributing to knowledge translation and engagement activities.
  • Contributes to the design and creation of communications and public relations tools, including coordinating meetings among the community, staff, research teams, and support staff.
  • Supports a team of peer research associates (PRA) and engages in community-based capacity building and development.
  • Assists with various administrative tasks associated with the day-to-day operations of research studies and projects. 
  • Leads and supports various quantitative and qualitative data analyses with the support of the technical and scientific teams.
  • Engages and leads knowledge translation activities.
  • Supports, develops and evaluates strategies that encourage community participation in activities.
  • Performs other duties as required.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Global Health, or related fields.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a health research setting including coordinating research projects and grant based programs, and supervising data collection activities.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Excellent problem-solver.
  • Superb communication skills and proven ability to work collaboratively on a team.
  • An ability to synthesize scientific literature and interpret statistical data.
  • Ability to prepare publications, documents, reports and communication materials for mass distribution.
  • Demonstrated experience in conference/event planning and grant preparation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of research design.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven understanding of social determinants of health and health equity frameworks.
  • Proven strong research skills with the ability to critically analyze results.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups in local communities.
