National HIV Strategies: High Level Political Leadership

One of the most crucial aspects of addressing HIV/AIDS epidemics within specific countries is the development of a national HIV/AIDS strategy.This session explores the accomplishments and challenges of the creation and the implementation of national strategies in four countries with varying HIV epidemic profiles: South Africa, Swaziland, Brazil and the USA.

Sign the DC Declaration

The Washington D.C. Declaration recognizes the fact that we stand at a unique time in the history of the AIDS epidemic. Through new scientific advances and societal, political and human rights gains, it is possible to turn the tide against the AIDS and begin to end the epidemic in our lifetimes.

Drafted by a writing committee of international experts, the Washington D.C. Declaration was initiated in partnership with the International AIDS Society, the International AIDS Conference, and the University of California, San Francisco.

Our work serves clients and communities across British Columbia on lands and waters cared for and nurtured by the many distinct First Nations across the province. The BC-CfE humbly and gratefully acknowledge the stewards of these lands, particularly the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh) on whose unceded, traditional and ancestral territories our offices are located.
