BC-CfE 30 Years of Excellence

In the 30 years since its inception in 1992, the advancements made by the British Columbia Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS (BC-CfE) have transformed HIV from a tragically fatal disease, to a chronic and manageable illness that is highly, and easily, preventable.

TREATMENT AS PREVENTION

The Treatment as Prevention strategy involves the widespread offer of HIV testing and immediate offer and use of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) to people living with HIV who are medically eligible and willing.

The BC-CfE is dedicated to improving the health of British Columbians with HIV through the development, ongoing monitoring and dissemination of comprehensive research and treatment programs for HIV and related diseases.

Our work serves clients and communities across British Columbia on lands and waters cared for and nurtured by the many distinct First Nations across the province. The BC-CfE humbly and gratefully acknowledge the stewards of these lands, particularly the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh) on whose unceded, traditional and ancestral territories our offices are located.
